Busy, busy, busy...

Wedding season has officially started for me! Ceremony and reception took place in Living History Farms and were absolutely beautiful. The reception (which was in the barn) was so gorgeous, decorated with tons of strands of Christmas lights and simple table centerpieces. It didn't last long into the night but everyone had a great time. Note to anyone needing a caterer, Hickory Park out of Ames! Hopefully I'll have to few photos to show very soon.

Last Friday I photographed my first newborn after getting a ton of fun props from Etsy.com. Her name was Hazel and she pretty much slept through the entire process making it incredibly effortless (even though I was still sweating by the end!) I can not wait for everyone to see how amazing she was.

Finally, I just thought I'd share a few photos from a fun session I did about a month ago. This is my sister Megan and her friend Natalie. This is what having a excess of imagination can get you into...

I love newborns!

I LOVE newborns! They're some of the most challenging sometimes but the end result is always amazing. I have so many ideas, not just for posing but also with props like knit hats, blankets, slings, etc. I just wish I could photograph a new gorgeous baby everyday! Below is a beautiful baby named Aubree. She was resistant in the beginning but eventually fell into a pretty deep sleep allowing us to get some great shots. :)

Avrie

Last night I got to watch Avrie for a couple hours, which is not long enough. We were just chilling and she kept saying "take my picture, take my picture" so final I was like "okay I guess so". (That was seriously how it went...wouldn't lie!) I had just bought these adorable Baby Legs and she insisted she try them out first (ALL her idea, not kidding). Of course her demands were consistent and I totally caved. Here are just a few of the many photos we got...

Wedding in Mexico

I just thought I'd share a few of the photos from the Crawford wedding in Mexico.
It was absolutely beautiful! The weather, the view, the dress, the flowers... all amazing!

To my max!

I don't know how or when this happened but I currently have 13 weddings scheduled for 2009! AAWWWWW That's an incredible amount for 1 person but I know I can totally handle it. Some of my weddings are for great friends of mine and I'm very excited for these. There are also a few for couples I've never met before and I can't wait for these either. I love meeting new people and on their wedding day is the best time to do so. They're all going to be amazing and I hope they're as excited to work with me as I am of them. I had only intended to book 10 this season since it can be a little overwhelming but that didn't last long. I only plan on booking 2 more and these could go fast since I've had several couples ask for price lists in just the past couple days.

As much fun as weddings can be, I don't plan on booking them like this forever. After this year I'm putting the brakes on and only booking 2-4 per season. Scaling back will not be an easy task!

Emma

Here are a few shots from my session with Emma. She was just to pretty to not show off! She didn't really enjoy it the entire time but we still got some great images. I think infants are my new favorite subject!

I wish I could do that...

As a last minute request I agreed to photograph a dance team in Des Moines for my friend Stacy. It was the typical memory mate type of thing in the beginning with a full team photo followed by individuals. Slowly as each girl finished up their photo they changed into their regular dance practice attire. I was so in love with their outfits, the vivid colors, socks, pants, shorts...all of it! These girls were so amazing. I couldn't even begin to do what they do. I asked if any of them could do something fun for me and this is what they gave me. I loved them so much I had to share...
